History of the Ivorys Rock site

Ivorys Rock is the name of the ancient volcanic plug on which the land is centred, forming an incredible backdrop for this beautiful venue, also known as “The Rock”, located at Peak Crossing, Queensland. To our First Nations People, the site is referred to as Muntambin (meaning “native plum”), and to our regular peace event goers, it’s Amaroo. Whatever your preferred moniker, Ivorys Rock is a much-loved and appreciated property that celebrates the best of the Australian outback.

When the land was purchased in the 1990s, pig farms and cleared land abounded. Since the 1990s, development occurred at various locations across this vast property, responding to the needs of large-scale peace events to deliver what visitors experience today.

The Ivory's Rock facility commenced operation as IRCC – The Ivory's Rock Conference Centre, in the early 1990s. From moderate beginnings, the significant investment in the construction of new facilities such as the Pavilion, Amphitheatre and Conference Centre, and the development of site infrastructure such as water, electricity, and communications, has made the venue the magnificent destination it is today – perfect for events and camping.

All constructions and works have been carried out with sympathy, care, and respect for what is a pristine environment that can now be shared by all visitors. The Ivory's Rock venue and its management have been recipients of a number of environmental and design awards for the development of the facility. The result is a delightful and remarkably functional venue that is also a haven for many species of indigenous wildlife.

Since opening, Ivorys Rock has hosted a number of major events, conventions and conferences with up to 5,000 people enjoying its natural beauty and quality infrastructure and facilities.
